Ceremony/workshop descriptions
Sacred fire ceremony- Join us for this earth day celebration-Ecuador style.
The fire is a powerful ally for cleansing, shifting an
d transforming on all levels in many cultures throughout the world. In this
ceremony you will learn from these wise men the teachings of the Quichuan
abuelos, or elders, of the Imbabura region of northern Ecuador. Bring your
intention to release that which not longer serves you and experience a deep
renewal in this celebration of the heart. All receive a group cleansing.
The Healing Ways of the Andes--The Tamayos have ben guided to come to the
north and share their teachings with those who wish to receive. They bring
with them a deep connection and abiding love for Pachamama/mother earth/time
and all the elements of nature and the universe. In this workshop we will
be learning direct, hands on techniques used for generations by the shaman
of northern Ecuador. As we connect with the use of plants and stones for
cleansing we ourselves experience the healing power of remembrance of
things beneath the surface. Come prepared to immerse yourself in sacred
knowledge and enjoy.
Additional items need to be brought. Instructions provided with
registration.
Sacred Bath- Join us for an afternoon of teaching and sacred ceremony. In
the Quichuan tradition the indigenous community participate in a communal
bathing ceremony at the time of the Intereimi, what we call the summer
solstice- for them it is June 22. This afternoon will consist of a sacred
walk to a nearby stream where in ceremony we each will receive the blessing
and individual cleansing from the Yachach, Pachamama and the Spirit of the
Shaman as we support each other in community. No swimming required but you
will get wet!
Additional items to be brought with you.
Ninamama: The Secret of the Fire- In this workshop, Don Jorge will be
teaching more healing techniques used by the Tamayos and their elders for
many generations. The techniques we will be learning come from the
Imbabura region of northern Ecuador where the Tamayos live in a small
farming community. This beautiful land is located in the center of a trio
of volcanoes. The Tamayos work closely with all the elements of nature,
however, the fire is of particular significance for them and, in
particular, in their cleansing ceremony. Ninamama is the Quichaun name for
fire. As we learn more about the fire and it's power and ability to
transform we find increased connection for ourselves. We will learn how to
use this teaching and other items for cleansing and ceremony.
Private Cleansing Ceremony- This ceremony is offered daily by both Don
Esteban and Jorge when they are at home in Ecuador and so it is here too.
People come from all over Ecuador and the globe to receive this cleansing
that brings new healing energy, clarity and power to one's path. A person
may seek this type of ceremony for any and all situations including those
where imbalance exists and one's health is waning. Whenever one desires
increased wellness in any area-emotional, physical and spiritual- this
ceremony is called for...or perhaps one wishes to receive more connection to
their purpose and path. Whatever is needed is brought forth in this
ceremony.. In Ecuador, many receive this ceremony twice a year even with no
outstanding issues as a way to be cleansed of any negativity and restore
vibrant health. No matter what the reason is that you feel called to
receive, you will find this experience beautiful, unique and powerful.
Your ceremony will take approximately one hour and the shaman will be
working directly with you. We recommend that you try to allow for some
personal time around your ceremony as the energies are powerful and it is
best if you can be free from rushing into life right away. There are items
to bring, we will instruct you when you make your appointment.
A Special Request- Jeff and I feel blessed to be able to help these men to
fulfill their purpose. As we are not in "the business" of offering and
organizing events in any official capacity but are rather acting as shepards
(a term offered to me by Woodland Cree medicine teacher, White Dove Crow)
for the Tamayos on their long journey through immigration, lawyers,
embassies, and other strange institutions; we need your support. We ask
for the community to forward this email to your list, post flyers if you are
willing, share your experience with the Tamayos with others, and/or in any
way offer your support to this endeavor (we are happy to receive love
offerings...see below.) so that we can continue to support these men. The
community here is big hearted, tremendously generous and has embraced Don
Esteban and Jorge and we hope to continue that and more.
Love Offerings-Love offerings are offerings made from your heart to support
the shepards directly. We appreciate any of your offerings.
Gifts of particular need during the visit with the Tamayos are:
organic apples
organic pears
organic chicken
organic brown eggs
white tapered candles 6-8"
gas cards
and of course we accept cash donations
BIOs:
The Tamayos: Don Esteban and Jorge Tamayo are father and son ecuadorian
healers called Yachachs in their native quichuan tongue They live in a
northern province of the ecuadorian Andes called Imbabura, in a small
farming community called Carabuela, named after their tribe, the Caras.
Being of Incan descent, they share a common indigenous heritage with all
peoples of the Andes from Ecuador through Peru, Chile and Bolivia. They are
called Quichuan people and they speak Quichua. ( In other areas of the andes
there are differences in language and customs. ) Don Esteban has yachach
blood on both sides of his family reaching back many generations and has
learned the ancient ways from his abuelitos, grandfathers, and has passed
this on to his son, Jorge. Jorge in turn is teaching his two sons the ways
of the yachach. They work with the elements of nature and their powerful
connection to all of pachamama. As a Yachach it is their role to serve and
heal by bringing wisdom and balance to individuals, communities, and the
earth. As practicing shamans they are keeping the traditions of the wise
ones alive and vital. The Tamayos have spoken of this as the time to share
their traditions with other cultures and their trip here is to serve this
purpose. Don Esteban and Jorge both have been guided to travel to the
"north" to speak with the people about Pachamama.
Tracey Howard: Tracey is a teacher/healer/artist. Her lifelong connection
to spirit has always had at its root a compassion driven heart connection
with people and all life of and on the earth. Although it all began much
earlier in her life, when she stepped into her role as caregiver during the
passing twenty years ago of her mother; she also began her official career
as an artist and a teacher. Through these years she faced many health
challenges herself which brought her to the healing path. Then nine years
ago she was asked once again to act as primary caregiver for her beloved
sister who passed just two years ago. It is hard to say what one does when
one's life is so full of experiences that many find painful and difficult to
hear. However, it is exactly these experiences that have been the deepest
teachers for Tracey. It is these direct experiences that have taught and
are still teaching her how to create and maintain emotional, physical and
spiritual balance and what happens when these imbalances persist.
Consequently, each life event brought forth its own response in the form of
a teaching and topic for study. These studies have settled into two main
areas of emphasis: indigenous wisdom teachings, and the traditions of
india. (Currently she is studying pure ayurveda with a Raj Vaidya.) Tracey
has a generous nature and sees all of her teaching both that she has
received and that is given through her as divinely inspired. In spite of
having a variety of both official and unofficial bodies of knowledge, when
asked to define herself; she prefers the more general term of
healer/teacher/artist or even better human being.
Our relationship: I first met the Tamayos at The Gathering of Wisdom
Keepers at the Omega Institute in 2001. It was a momentous occasion for me.
After observing their ceremony for many days, I finally received a cleansing
with them on the final day. I felt such connection and transformation and
elation. I knew i would see them again. When they returned to the us the
following year, i traveled again to see them. There i participated in the
workshop that we are running here also called the Healing Ways of the Andes,
at the end we did a meditation and there I had a vision and I knew that
vision would take me to Ecuador, even though I had no idea how or when. I
then travelled to their village and studied with them...twice actually.
Since then I have felt compelled to bring them here to share their energy
and gentleness with more people. We are a family now and the bond continues
to grow.
